After the sunsets and your eyes adjust to the darkness, you start to see the beauty of millions of stars and you look in wonder at the Milky Way spanning across the night sky. What if you could capture the Milky Way with your camera?

Well, the great news is you can, and although Astrophotography poses a unique set of challenges, with the
right guidance, Astrophotography doesn’t have to be difficult.
Our Dark Sky Astrophotography tour is designed for those who want to learn to photograph the night sky
and Milky Way for the first time, through to those who want to take their night sky photography to the next level.
Welcome and Coffee at the The Pretoria Hotel Our tour starts with with a soft drink or hot drink of your choice at the “Pretoria Hotel”- “Situated on the mighty River Murray in Mannum,
We will go over a few important detail and then head get down the river for sunset
Travel to a sunset location in the Dark Sky Reserve
We will travel to Murray River Dark Sky Reserve in the Luxury Staria for a sun set shoot over the river.

Cancelation policy Refunds: Tour bookings are non-refundable. Date changes: Tour date changes are allowed with at least 7 days notice. Transfers: Bookings may be transferred to a new participant any time leading up to the workshop however I ask you you update me via email so as I am able to update the contact details.

We will notify you by 7pm the day before if the tour is not going ahead. In the event of weather prohibiting your Astrophotography tour from proceeding, we will offer you an alternative tour date.

  • If clouds do come through on the night, we will wait for them to clear and then resume the tour, or look at alternatives in a different direction. (Some of the very best images are captured on nights like this)

  • By booking you agree to adhere to the rules for your own safety and for the safety of those around you.

Tour Overview

  • A 6 hour Masterclass

  • This Tour is divided into two parts:

    1. Welcome & Briefing at The Pretoria Hotel.

    2. Bus tour and shooting session where we will travel to the Murray River Dark Sky Reserve, where you can put your skills into practice by taking some photos of the night sky including the Milky Way. 

  • When: 3:30pm -10pm & Where: Pretoria Hotel: 50 Randell St, Mannum SA 5238

  • Beginners and enthusiasts are welcome.

  • Grazing box meal and 1 drink included

  • You can also borrow one of my cameras for the night! (subject to availability) 

  • Learn how to capture incredible photos of the stars.

With 25 years as a professional photographer John is experienced and super passionate about photography and sharing his photography skills and experiences with others.
Whether it be capturing the milky way, a thunderstorm that is literally lighting up the night sky or a crazy good sunset, John’s your man. John started Adventure Art Photography to inspire others to experience that same creative learning though photography adventures. John lives in the Adelaide Hills with his wife Alicia and 2 sons who also enjoy there photography. John would love to meet you on an adventure soon. :)

What gear do I need ?

Camera Gear
 

There’s an old saying that “the best camera is the camera you have with you!”

Any camera is fine, but you will have the best experience if you bring a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera.

Please also bring a  wide-angle lens (between 10-35mm) and a tripod. 
Please let me know if you don’t have one or more of these just ask and we will do our best to source for you. :

Make sure you have a couple of fully charged batteries and plenty of space on your memory card.

Tripod & Accessories

It is recommended you bring a tripod for this tour however, it’s ok if you don’t have one. A tripod is necessary if you wish to participate in any of the Astro Photography components of the tour.

If you don’t have a tripod please contact us and we will do our best to provide one for you.

How experienced do I need to be?

As photographers, we never stop learning. So whether you are a seasoned photographer, an enthusiast or a complete beginner, our small group sizes help cater for any skill level. We want to ensure new ideas and concepts can be tailored to your personal experience level. This tour is not a details training session but a practicle shoot and we will be there to guide you to capture your best shot.

Are food and drinks included in the price?

Grazing platter meal and one beverage of choice is included in this tour.

Any additional food or beverages may be purchased at the participant’s expense.
